Ever since I read that story on here about the FD RX-7 restoration, I've wanted some sort of car project. A cheap car project.

I'm not really sure what I want to do though. I'd love to fix up an old FB or FC RX-7 or beat to shit NA Miata. Maybe an old, running, muscle car. Then of course, there's also the other option that popped into my head of an old Toyota Truck. That would open itself up to becoming an offroader too. Of course, I would really like to restore an old Porsche or BMW, but the parts costs and too high and I highly doubt I'd be able to find them in Kansas.

I don't know. Too many ideas, and not enough money. Such is life. Any suggestions, Oppo?

Anything that's easy to get parts for and doesn't need welding really. If you're just starting out you want something that's close to a runner not a full blown project/restoration.

That's pretty much what I'm looking for. I don't want to empty my bank accounts on it.

A cheap car project, is this a project that starts off looking like it might be cheap, but gradually acquires costs as time goes by? Or a cheap car that definitely need work?

Either way, be realistic with your skills, it is a great way to learn, but be careful that there might be things too difficult for you to approach, those are the things that cost money. So, something that already runs but needs love is probably best. The shitty Mazda or Toyota truck sound like great ideas (the rotaries, less so). Imagine that truck, it still looks a little worse for wear on the outside, but the seats are something you pulled from a more modern wreck, and you've spruced up the engine until it purrs, or at least doesn't rattle.
